  • Agriculture and Food Research Initiative Competitive Grants Program

    The Agriculture and Food Research Initiative – Education and Workforce Development (EWD) focuses on developing the next generation of research, education, and extension professionals in the food and agricultural sciences. In FY 2021, EWD invites applications in seven areas: agricultural workforce training; professional development for agricultural literacy; training of undergraduate students in research and extension; fellowships for predoctoral candidates; fellowships for postdoctoral scholars, a new program for food and agricultural non-formal education, and a FY 2021-only program for evaluation of NIFA’s agricultural literacy and workforce development portfolio. See EWD Request for Applications for specific details.

    The primary objective of the program is to provide grants to Agriculture Innovation Centers that will provide technical assistance to agricultural producers to market value-added agricultural products.

  • Alternative Development Program Thailand USAID-Bangkok

    The United States Government, represented by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), anticipates issuing a request for applications to implement an Alternative Development Program to increase licit and commercially viable agricultural-based alternatives for rural Afghans with the goal of significantly reducing and ultimately eradicating poppy production throughout Afghanistan.

Berea also helps students with other costs, such as food, room and board, by providing a work study program. Students also receive a free laptop to use while they are in school.   • Climate Smart Agriculture Activity Pakistan USAID-Islamabad

    This Request for Information (RFI) is a preliminary call for expressions of interest to provide services for the activity titled, “Climate Smart Agriculture Activity (CSA)”. The Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA) Activity is expected to be a $16 million, Four-year Award (2022-2026) award which is designed to introduce and promote climate smart technologies for sustainable growth of the agriculture sector and create resilience in communities associated with agriculture. CSA activity will also work on ways to increase public and private sector investment in research and innovation for adaptation and resilience in agriculture.

  • Development and Implementation of Healthy Meals

    In June of 2022, the USDA launched the Food System Transformation framework which aims to build a more resilient food supply chain, create a fairer food system, and make nutritious food more accessible and affordable for consumers, with a particular focus on equity. Under this RFA, the School Food System Transformation Challenge Sub-Grant Cooperative Agreement will reflect FNS’ commitment to encourage the offering of healthier food products in the marketplace for school meals through engagement with the food industry and incentivizing innovation and partnerships. Increasing access to nutritious and appealing foods for kids is critical to the success of strong school meal standards. The selected Cooperator(s) will collaborate with food industry partners to support school districts, food producers, suppliers, distributors, and community partners.
